A case of dermoid cyst

Dermoid cyst is a common ocular tumour, it accounts for 3-9% of paediatic tumour. Childers with dermoid tumour persent other congenital abnormality 13 year old girl presented to our OPD, complains swelling in her left eye upperlid since birth, patient has multiple facial anomalies. On examination, vision both eyes were 6/6. A 3*3cm noted the upper lid near lateral canthus. Clinical diagnosis made. surgical excision biopsy was planned under General anaesthesia. Intraoperatively removed wall intact. Cut section revealed cystic lesion tangle hair follicles. Specimen sent histopathology. HPE confirmed teratomatous cyst. cysts account 5% all orbital lesions and are among most tumors childhood. Ophthalmologist should be aware surgically excise these meticulously so as provide good cosmetic result patient.
